Booster vaccination
Who should receive a corona booster vaccination according to STIKO recommendations? ( As of 18.09.23 )
-Persons aged ≥60 years
-Persons ≥6 months of age with increased health risk for severe COVID-19 progression due to an underlying disease, such as:
▶ Chronic respiratory disease (COPD).
▶ Chronic cardiovascular, liver and kidney diseases
▶ Diabetes mellitus and other metabolic diseases
▶ Obesity
▶ CNS diseases, such as chronic neurological diseases, dementia or mental retardation, psychiatric diseases or cerebrovascular diseases
▶ Trisomy 21
Congenital or acquired immunodeficiency (e.g. HIV infection, chronic inflammatory diseases under relevant immunosuppressive therapy, post organ transplantation)
▶ active neoplastic diseases**
-persons of any age with an increased work-related risk of infection in medical and nursing care with direct patient or resident contact, as well as family members and close contacts of persons for whom COVID-19 vaccination is unlikely to achieve a protective immune response.
As a rule, the booster vaccination should be given at least 12 months after the last known antigen exposure (i.e. corona disease or last vaccination at least 12 months ago).
No further booster vaccination is currently recommended for healthy adults <60 years of age and pregnant women.
Likewise, no basic COVID-19 immunisation or booster vaccination is currently recommended for infants, (young) children and adolescents without underlying diseases due to the now predominantly mild courses and their very low incidence of hospitalisation.
We carry out vaccinations in accordance with the recommendations of the Robert Koch Institute.
